Mr. Sunny Hui has been an advisor for Cathay Photonics Limited since 2018. He was nominated to join the board as an independent director in February 2021. Mr. Hui was a semiconductor industry veteran with over 25 years of successful track record in senior management in both public companies and private sectors including the top 3 Chinese semiconductor foundries namely SMIC, Grace Semiconductor (now HHGrace) and GTA Semiconductor (formerly ASMC).
Mr. Hui holds a M.Sc in Semiconductor Physics and Technology from Imperial College, University of London; DIC and a B.Sc (Hons) in Applied Physics from Hong Kong Baptist College, where he was put on the Dean’s List with his academic excellence. In 2021 he was conferred by Hong Kong Baptist University the Distinguished Science Alumni Award as a recognition for his professional achievements and contributions to the university and the community.
