Cathay Photonics (CPL) is a Hong Kong based company, spun-off from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2014. The company is started from a patented technology “Sapphire Thin Film Coated Substrate” (US9695501B2), which is granted by US patent office in 2017. The technology also received the Grand Prix of 44th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, Gold Medal in the Industrial Process Category, & Special Award for The Invention by Romanian Association.
Supported by TSSUS (2014-2017) and private investment fund, CPL has become a leading company on hard-surface anti-scratch coating. Up to now, our R&D team has filed 25+ patents, and 15+ patents are granted, including US, CN, TW, JPN, KR and PCT patents. Our business is to offer IP licenses and currently develop our technology on different material surfaces, such as glass, ceramic, plastics, and metal. The development is across a wide range of application including mobile phone, traditional & smart watches, flexible display, automobile module and metal accessories.
To generate as broad application as possible, our team has worked closely with client’s R&D sector under NDA. These collaborations give us have a good insight on current technological innovation, which make the motivation to expand our R&D team for next generation products.
